What does a wedding Emcee actually do?

Now I’m NOT a wedding planner, but I AM available to stay on after your wedding and support your team to make sure all of your celebrations flow seamlessly as lady toastmaster and maestra de ceremonias

• From the start of your post-ceremony celebrations, to your first dance, I am your wedding bestie.
  • I can advise you how to pee wearing a big wedding dress!
  • I have a bag full of pins, clips and all kinds of bits and pieces for just about every possible wardrobe malfunction!
  • I will take your bouquet and keep your personal items safe until you need them
  • I ensure VIPs (Vulnerable Important People) have special care and attention
  • I have one eye on your comfort and the other eye on the clock

What else does an emcee do?

• I usher everyone to your cocktail hour location ensuring they all have a celebration drink
• I coordinate your family and friends photo session freeing up your photographer to capture those all important smiles
• I liaise with you to keep secrets and spring surprises at the right time!
• I announce you to your guests when you enter your dining space with serviette waving, applause, music – whatever you want!
• I am in constant contact with your caterers throughout the meal to make sure
  • everything goes out to time
  • guests with special dietary needs are catered for
  • clearing courses does not interfere with the speeches
  • everyone has a full glass for toasts

• I announce your speakers and make sure speeches go smoothly
• I ensure your cake cutting goes without a hitch
• I introduce you onto the dance floor for your first dance
• I am front-of-house for your bouquet toss/champagne tower/firework tunnel of love/post wedding breakfast games
• Essentially, I am your wedding planner or coordinator’s right hand person and TIME KEEPER!!!

I discovered a Maestra de Ceremonia is different in Spain

Just like being a celebrant in Spain has unique differences to the experiences of UK officiants, I quickly discovered on-the-job, that being an MC in Spain is different to being a Master of Ceremonies in the UK.

But for me, that makes both jobs even more special
