Wedding FAQs

What qualifies you to be our celebrant?
Good question!
Well, to answer the "qualifies" bit, I have held the positions of both DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT REGISTRAR and DEPUTY REGISTRAR of births deaths and marriages in the UK.

As for being a “celebrant”, I truly love what I do. It is my vocation. Whether a Wedding or a Celebration of Life, from our first contact I will get to know you so that together we can craft your bespoke ceremony.

Are the Wedding Celebrations you perform legal?
Another very important question!
Whilst your Wedding Ceremony may contain all of the contracting words of a lawful UK wedding, civil marriage or civil partnership it will not be recorded in a legal register therefore will not be recognised under UK or Spanish law.

What documents will I receive?
You may sign a wedding book held by your wedding venue, and/or be presented with a commemorative certification of your ceremony, but please be aware that these are not legal documents in Spain or in the UK and must not be presented as such.

What are the options for a legal wedding?
Previous wedding couples have opted for a quiet , even secret, civil ceremony in the UK or Gibraltar to get the formalities out of the way and then had their "real " romantic wedding day in this very special corner of Andalucia - the day when memories are made.

How do I register a death in Spain?
All deaths MUST be registered in the country where the person died*

- A death whilst on holiday in Spain:
Contact the travel insurance company and the relevant consulate for advice on repatriation.
Click for free download: The British Consul Bereavement Information for Spain

- If you have Spanish “residencia” and you die in Spain:
Contact the funeral insurance company. Alternatively, contact the local “funeraria”, funeral director.
Click for Gov.UK information: What To Do After Someone Dies Abroad:

*You also have the option to register a death with the British registration service at a cost of £150 It is not necessary but may be something you want to consider purely for personal reasons. For example, should a family member chase their ancestry sometime in the future, your loved one’s circle of life is complete and traceable... there is a permanent record of their birth, marriage and death.
